Celebrating Neighborhood Resource Hubs with Elevated Denver
Denver, CO – November 20, 2024 – Members of the Reiter Family Foundation came together with Elevated Denver on Wednesday, November 20th, to celebrate a significant milestone in the fight against homelessness. At this event, Elevated Denver’s cofounders Johnna Flood and Liane Morrison shared the latest updates on Elevated Denver’s Neighborhood Resource Hubs initiative, and Kendra Appleton, Executive Director of the Reiter Family Foundation, offered insights into why the Foundation chose to award a substantial grant to support the project.
Elevated Denver’s mission of fostering collaborative spaces that empower Denver community members to come together and develop micro-solutions in the housing and homelessness spaces aligns closely with the values of the Reiter Family Foundation. During her remarks, Kendra emphasized the importance of supporting grassroots, community-driven efforts like Elevated Denver, which puts people’s dignity and humanity at the center of their work.
“These neighborhood resource hubs are an excellent example of Elevated Denver’s micro-solutions, offering the first step toward alleviating homelessness for many in our communities. With lived experts at the forefront of the problem-solving conversations and the solution itself, we at the Reiter Family Foundation believe this is a valuable and hopeful next step, and we hope you do too",” Appleton said.
Elevated Denver’s Neighborhood Resource Hubs are set to launch in early 2025 as the first micro-solution to emerge from Elevated Denver’s original Collaboratory, a collective space for problem-solving and innovation. The Hubs will serve as community-centered spaces where individuals with lived experience will help to support their peers who are either unhoused or on the cusp of becoming unhoused and help them access the resources and help they need.
Elevated Denver’s approach resonates deeply with the Reiter Family Foundation's commitment to finding scalable, sustainable solutions that honor the lived experience of individuals and communities. By focusing on micro-solutions, Elevated Denver is able to create more immediate, manageable interventions that can be expanded and adapted as part of a broader strategy for addressing homelessness.
“With the launch of its Neighborhood Resource Hubs,” Appleton remarked, “Elevated Denver will contribute drop after drop toward waves of change for our unhoused neighbors in the Denver Metro Area, effects that will only be amplified and multiplied by our collective buy-in and support of this next step.”
Elevated Denver's collaborative and compassionate approach to housing and homelessness underscores the importance of active listening, shared learning, and trust. As the organization moves forward with the development of the Neighborhood Resource Hubs, they invite all members of the Denver community to join in their mission of creating lasting, equitable change.
